As Far as Marti Marina
Hello again
An update on our adventures
13th and 14th June found us in a gorgeous little seaside village called Bozburun. We stayed in the Marina there for a couple of nights packed between a super yacht and another yacht of similar size to us. Our yacht looked like a toy next to the big gin palace. While we were in Bozburun we frequented a lovely restaurant called Osmans. Great food good wine and a great view of the Marina and harbour.
On the 15th June it was time to say farewell.
We had trouble with crossed anchors and found when we finally made it out of the Marina that the anchor winch would not work properly on pulling it up. This added to our problems but fortunately Tony was able to use a manual winch. After discussing it we decided it was best to motor back to Marmaris to get Brian (he serviced the boat for the previous owners ) to see what the problems were with it. After about 6 hours of motoring back through some quite choppy water we finally made it into Marmaris bay early evening.
16th June we made contact with Brian who suggested we go back into yacht marina so he could check the winch out the next day.
17th June we were back in the Marina and Brian arrived early afternoon to pull the winch out. He found the relay for the "up" function wasn't working and there was also a crack in the casing. He took the whole thing away for fixing.
18th June mid afternoon Brian brought everything back and working thank goodness.
After Brian left we booked out of the Marina and headed back to Marmaris bay for another couple of nights.
19th June back in our favourite spot just off the quay we decided to row in to the shore and go and get some provisions and also get Tony's Turkish phone fixed. That was the first marathon trying to get them to understand that his phone would not send emails. 3 hours later finally it was working.
Now we need fruit and vegetables. Well marathon number 2. We walked and we walked and I reckon we would have walked 20 km in the searing heat and do you think we could find the fruit shops we had passed on other occasions. No where to be seen. Suggestion let's just go to Migros (a large supermarket chain in Turkey ) and get what we need there. Brought what was needed found a taxi and with Tony's good sense of direction he was able to give the taxi driver directions to where the yacht was moored.
Once back on-board we both collapsed in a sweaty heap.
20th June we left Marmaris and headed for Kosy baccu (not sure of the spelling ). - Kuzi Bucu. On our way there we saw two dolphins which rode our bow wave. They were large with grey backs and white under bellies. This was a great thrill for us. We reached the bay and found what we thought was a good anchorage. Well the boat rolled all night long. Neither of us had a great nights sleep so we upped anchor and headed for our next port of call.
21st June found us in a beautiful bay where we swam relaxed and just took in the beautiful setting. I could have spent a couple of nights there but we decided to up anchor and head for Ohiyanga.
22nd after a beautiful scenic trip through the islands we arrived in a great anchorage behind the old ruins of a fort in Ohiyanga. We are moored a way off Marti Marina so decided we should use the dinghy motor to get across the bay to the Marina only to find there was a problem with the dingy motor.
23rd 24th and 25th found us in the bay and getting the motor fixed.
26th June we are now up to date. We have taken the sheets to the laundry room and are now sitting in the Marina catching up with emails etc.
At this stage we will tomorrow head for our next port of call.
Until then, stay healthy and happy
Lots of love

Leaving Marmaris
7th June finally we got our release from the tax department for the purchase of Moondance and our dinghy back from having a leak fixed. (Ha)
First night was anchored just across from the hum drum of Marmaris town. A lovely place with great shopping and excellent restaurants. We found a really good one called Roma with great friendly staff and great food.
8th June saw us up anchor and head for Ekincik (Egg n Chick) which is south of Marmaris. We found a nice anchorage there.
9th June still on the bay we organised a river cruise to Dalyan. 10am our cruise skipper picked us up and we were the only ones on the boat. Our captains name was Aladdin. Very nice young man and helpful. He did have a carpet on board but unfortunately it didn't appear to be magic . He never had a lamp but he did have his cell phone and I am sure his Genie with him as he was always on his phone.
Our first stop were some sea caves. They were very interesting to see. Next was Turtle Beach. Loggerhead turtles migrate here to lay their eggs. Developers were wanting to build a big hotel on the water front but after a lot of protesting it was not allowed which is such a great decision. Our next stop was a turtle feeding station from one of the ferry boats. The turtles swim in their own environment and to get them to come to the boats they feed them blue crab which they fight with the fish to get their fair share. We saw three very big turtles which was great to see them in their natural surroundings.
The river winds it way through chanells of reeds. We looked for Moses in his basket but did not find him. Pleased the skipper new his way as there are many channels.
Our next stop were some Carian ruins which were really interesting and they dated back to 4BC. Quite a few of them were well preserved and it I was easy to make out what the structures would have been.
Our next point of interest were some tombs also dating back to 4BC. They were built high up on the hill above Dalyan town. These tombs were amazing and it left us wondering how on earth they managed to get their dead placed inside the tombs and how they managed to get the facia front of the tombs up there and put them in place. We later had a walk through the town and then lunch which was nothing to write home about. I was writing the first edition of this blog. (Actually lost 2 drafts that did not save). Tony enjoyed the Tzatsiki and Calamari while I was typing.
Next came the trip winding our way back through the chanels of reeds to the river mouth which was very pleasant until we reached the mouth itself. The wind had come up and we entered some very rough water. I am pleased I had taken my seasick tablet the night before or I may have been feeding the fish. There were some huge troughs with large waves breaking over the bow. Tony said it was some of the roughest water he has been in for quite some time.
Phew! Finally back and I breathed a sigh of relief once I was able to climb back on board Moondance.
With that trip behind us we both went for a lovely swim.
10th June we motored and sailed to Serce pronounced Sersay. We spent two nights in a lovely cove.
12th June we motored and sailed to a bay called Kizil Adasi near Bozburun which is in the gulf of Hisaronu for those of you who may want to look at a map. It is just north of Marmaris.
13th June We are now in a small marina in Bozburun and we are sitting in a little cafe having lunch and finally doing our emails. This is a delightful little seaside town.
Another instalment will follow as we get more WiFi.
Love Tony and Raewyn

Where We Are Not At
Hi all, just an update on where we are not at. We are still in Marmaris yacht marina. We went to leave a couple of days ago but with all the bureaucratic nonsense of having to pay tax for the purchase of the boat plus other things and the tax office not being open until Monday we are unable to leave until everything is finalized.
So hopefully after Tonys appointment at 2pm Monday we maybe on our way.
Staying in the Marina is fine. It is huge and Tony and I went for an evening walk last night and got lost. It is just as well Tony has a good sense of direction or we could have wandered around for hours looking for our pier.
The complex caters well for boaties. Along with the chandlery a supermarket, restaurant, bar and everything as far as boat maintenance goes it is perfect and well run.
The only thing I found difficult to get my head around is everywhere not just on the boat you are not allowed to put toilet paper down the toilets. By this i mean ALL toilet paper. It goes in a bucket next to the toilet.
Fortunately the buckets are emptied regularly and the facilities are spotless.
The weather is fantastic everyday. Around 35 degrees. Usually in the afternoon we head inside where it is cooler. Tony thinks when we are out on the water it will be cooler which makes sense especially with a sea breeze.
Well thats about it for now. I hope everyone is keeping well and are healthy and happy.
Lots of love
Raewyn and Tony
