Hello again
An update on our adventures
13th and 14th June found us in a gorgeous little seaside village called Bozburun. We stayed in the Marina there for a couple of nights packed between a super yacht and another yacht of similar size to us. Our yacht looked like a toy next to the big gin palace. While we were in Bozburun we frequented a lovely restaurant called Osmans. Great food good wine and a great view of the Marina and harbour.
On the 15th June it was time to say farewell.
We had trouble with crossed anchors and found when we finally made it out of the Marina that the anchor winch would not work properly on pulling it up. This added to our problems but fortunately Tony was able to use a manual winch. After discussing it we decided it was best to motor back to Marmaris to get Brian (he serviced the boat for the previous owners ) to see what the problems were with it. After about 6 hours of motoring back through some quite choppy water we finally made it into Marmaris bay early evening.
16th June we made contact with Brian who suggested we go back into yacht marina so he could check the winch out the next day.
17th June we were back in the Marina and Brian arrived early afternoon to pull the winch out. He found the relay for the "up" function wasn't working and there was also a crack in the casing. He took the whole thing away for fixing.
18th June mid afternoon Brian brought everything back and working thank goodness.
After Brian left we booked out of the Marina and headed back to Marmaris bay for another couple of nights.
19th June back in our favourite spot just off the quay we decided to row in to the shore and go and get some provisions and also get Tony's Turkish phone fixed. That was the first marathon trying to get them to understand that his phone would not send emails. 3 hours later finally it was working.
Now we need fruit and vegetables. Well marathon number 2. We walked and we walked and I reckon we would have walked 20 km in the searing heat and do you think we could find the fruit shops we had passed on other occasions. No where to be seen. Suggestion let's just go to Migros (a large supermarket chain in Turkey ) and get what we need there. Brought what was needed found a taxi and with Tony's good sense of direction he was able to give the taxi driver directions to where the yacht was moored.
Once back on-board we both collapsed in a sweaty heap.
20th June we left Marmaris and headed for Kosy baccu (not sure of the spelling ). - Kuzi Bucu. On our way there we saw two dolphins which rode our bow wave. They were large with grey backs and white under bellies. This was a great thrill for us. We reached the bay and found what we thought was a good anchorage. Well the boat rolled all night long. Neither of us had a great nights sleep so we upped anchor and headed for our next port of call.
21st June found us in a beautiful bay where we swam relaxed and just took in the beautiful setting. I could have spent a couple of nights there but we decided to up anchor and head for Ohiyanga.
22nd after a beautiful scenic trip through the islands we arrived in a great anchorage behind the old ruins of a fort in Ohiyanga. We are moored a way off Marti Marina so decided we should use the dinghy motor to get across the bay to the Marina only to find there was a problem with the dingy motor.
23rd 24th and 25th found us in the bay and getting the motor fixed.
26th June we are now up to date. We have taken the sheets to the laundry room and are now sitting in the Marina catching up with emails etc.
At this stage we will tomorrow head for our next port of call.
Until then, stay healthy and happy
Lots of love
Raewyn and Tony
Xx
