Our transit of Crete was just that. A transit as a way of getting back to the Peloponnese and Ionian. Our first stop was at Ay Nikolaio where we spent a night at the marina before heading for Spinalonga Lagoon. There we watched a Bledisloe Cup match. Probably 50:50 Aussie/ Kiwi audience.

Spinalonga is the name of an island that was used as a leper colony. The book "The Island" is an account of the times when it was used.
We stayed in the lagoon for severaldays waiting out another meltemi. Had drinks on board a Norwegian/Romanian yacht with Sue and Bob from Othali. Best hosts fun drinks we have had in a while. Started with compulsory shots and dissolved in to a party with very gracious hosts who went to a lot of trouble to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. It does not take much trouble to make sure we enjoy ourselves. We now refer to the anchorage as Singalonga. Spontaneity and surprise is always fun

After that came Iraklion where, because of the swell against the harbour wall. A pity as we missed Knossos and other sights around town.

Rhythmion marina was pleasant as we got diesel and water before continuing our way west.

Our next anchorage was a bay on a peninsula where basically we anchored before continuing to Gramvousa and the end of our time in Crete.
