Durres

Vlore to Durres was through very average flat countryside. I (along with 2 others n the bus) were unceremoniously dumped at the Intercontinental Hotel in the middle of nowhere. The other 2 disappeared and I saw one had crossed the busy main road so I followed. Thank heaven for Google maps.

I was about 5k away from the hostel I had booked so started walking. No shade and in the heat of the day. The walk became  better when I crossed the railway line onto the main road and the city of Durres started. A fast food joint provided a slow hamburger and beer. The rest of the walk improved passing markets until I reached my destination.

Accommodation was a single room but this time with shared bathroom.

Taking the bus was cheap and easy

The beach front in Durres is covered with beach chairs and umbrellas for miles. Just one street back from the main road
