Rubbish Recycling. Sorting cans from dumpsters - A common sight
Typical Communist accommodation
Durres
Vlore to Durres was through very average flat countryside. I (along with 2 others n the bus) were unceremoniously dumped at the Intercontinental Hotel in the middle of nowhere. The other 2 disappeared and I saw one had crossed the busy main road so I followed. Thank heaven for Google maps.
I was about 5k away from the hostel I had booked so started walking. No shade and in the heat of the day. The walk became better when I crossed the railway line onto the main road and the city of Durres started. A fast food joint provided a slow hamburger and beer. The rest of the walk improved passing markets until I reached my destination.
1/2 chicken, beer and bun NZ$11.00
A rare sight as there are no trains scheduled in Durres
Many street sellers have very little to sell
The guy in the white cap has a chicken by his right knee
